Make Your Shoes Last Longer
Gone are the days when shoes were just a necessity. Today, they are more of a fashion accessory than just being an item of need. But, irrespective of whether you buy your shoes to serve a purpose or just to add to your style, you would obviously want them to last longer.

Since most shoes come for quite a price, you obviously cannot go shopping for them every other day. Thus, it makes absolute sense if you put in a little effort to ensure that they stay with you for a little longer. Here are a few tips that will help you with the same.

To start off, make sure that you buy high quality shoes. Even if you are taking best care of shoes that are poor in quality, they are likely to wear off sooner than you expect. Thus, make sure that you invest in good quality product even if they cost more. Shoes in natural materials like leather and suede last a lot longer.

These days, most people prefer to buy shoes with leather soles. While these leather soles can make walking a little more comfortable, they wear off easily. You can take them to a nearby shoe shop and have rubber soles affixed on the top of leather soles. This will protect the leather soles from wearing off. Once the rubber soles wear off, you can get them replaced with another set of rubber soles.

Water is one of the most common causes of damage to shoes. Thus, it is important that you protect them  from water. Try not to go in to wet areas with your expensive shoes on. Alternatively, you could even use water proofing spray or a saddle soap to prevent them against water damage.

Most of us have the habit of removing our shoes without untying them. Untie the shoe laces or the buckles or straps before you remove them. This will help in maintaining the shape and also add to their shelf life.

If at all there is any damage to your shoe, try to treat it as promptly as possible. If there are any kinds of scuff marks, dirt or debris sticking on, remove it with the help of a tooth brush.

Sprinkling baking soda on your shoes every night is also a good way of ensuring that they last longer. Baking soda will help in removing any colors that may be lingering on to your sandals or slippers. Next time when you are about to wear them again, just flake off the soda.

Adding life to your shoe is not that difficult. All you need is a little effort and some caution.
